Had I been served that in a restaurant I’d have sent it back..
I made this last week and was really looking forward to it, it was nice, apart from the fact that the piece of rump steak I bought for it, despite bashing the hell out of it with a meat tenderiser, was really chewy and pretty crap if I’m honest, I wont be buying that again, I’ll pay the extra and buy a piece of filet.
The concept was nice though, and a bit of a change from normal steak and chips..
Steak and chips:
I coated the steak in Dijon mustard.
Made some oven chips and coated them in my special flour mix so they would have a little bit of a crunchy coating on them and added some bacon to them towards the end of cooking.
On top I put some fried onions and mushrooms and a handful of cheese.
and then the sliced pan fried steak
and finished it off with a beef gravy to which I’d added red wine, garlic and tomato puree
I served it with a huge salad
it was alright, but disappointing
