I’ve never had a chayote , it tasted quite earthy to me, it was alright, nothing spectacular, the addition of the lime made it more palatable, not something I’ll bother to get again..
I saw a recipe for these things on here I think it was, it seems to me the difference between this and a burrito is the type of tortilla used and the tightness of the roll, whatever it is, these were yummy and I enjoyed them immensely..
spicy beef Taquitos:
I used half a pack of mince and saved the rest of another meal, I also used up a smidgen of the cheese sauce left over from the Chicken bake.
I made a dry, spicy taco mince and left it to cool down a bit.
I smeared a little passata and cheese sauce onto a corn tortilla and then put dome mince on it..
Then I rolled them up tightly..
and baked them on an oiled tray until they were crispy, I decided not to fry them, I would imagine they’d be a bit greasy..
I served them with some avocado, Chayote and tomato lime relish.
I’ve never had a chayote before, or even heard of one, it tasted quite earthy to me, it was alright, nothing spectacular, the addition of the lime made it more palatable, not something I’ll bother to get again..
I added a dollop of creme fraiche
and had them with a baby pearl potatoes, halloumi and prosciutto bake.
They were delicious, I really enjoyed them..
I only ate two, I saved the other one and had it cold for lunch..
Yummy..
